The Junction Center for Independent Living is a non-profit, non-residential program which provides services to persons with disabilities, their families, and their community.

We are a Private Non-Profit Corporation funded by State and Local Governments, and Private Contributions.

  • ADA/ACCESSIBILITY
    JCIL evaluates the physical properties and processes that person with disabilities to interact with local businesses, organizations, and agencies to ensure maximum achievable accessibility.  These evaluations are always at the organization's request and any recommendations implemented are at their discretion and risk.
     

  • ALTERNATIVE FORMATS
    JCIL offers alternative format services to businesses, restaurants, and other agencies to convert the printed materials used by them into a form usable by individuals with particular disabilities.  These services may include translating material into Braille, large-print and audiotape mediums.
     

  • ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
    JCIL provides equipment on a loan basis to individuals with disabilities assists these in obtaining their own equipment, and on a limited basis will assist with purchasing needed technology.  JCIL will assist in the development of loan applications, assembling appraisals, medical records, and other documentation required to support the application.
     

  • HOME MODIFICATIONS
    JCIL aids in completing applications for home modifications and makes referrals to those community agencies that specialize in home repair services.
     

  • SUPPORT GROUPS
    Groups designed for people with any disability to identify personal and community needs and to seek solutions for meeting those needs in a group setting.
     

  • TRANSITION
    JCIL staff attend transition meetings with members of the local school systems and other agency personnel to aid juniors and seniors with disabilities making the transition to live independently in the community or to pursue higher education goals at a college or university.
     

  • TRANSPORTATION
    JCIL maintains a fleet of vehicles, most of which are ADA accessible, to provide transportation to appointments in situations where no other transportation is available.  JCIL also provides limited Medicaid transportation as well as group transportation to JCIL community events.  Transportation is provided on a pre-scheduled basis only.  To schedule a ride, contact Jim Wright, Transportation Supervisor.
