Junction
Center for Independent Living, Inc.
provides many community opportunities
for those without disabilities to learn
more about those who do live
independently with disabilities.

SENSITIVITY TRAINING
Training provided to various groups
on the topics of living with a
disability, disability etiquette,
adaptive devices, and interacting
with those who have a disability.
Sensitivity trainings are designed
to raise awareness and provide a
hands-on opportunity to experience
using some adaptive devices and
experiencing some of the barriers
unwittingly raised to deny access.

MOTIVATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Motivating children with
disabilities to instill a sense of
confidence, welf-worth, and self
advocacy skills that will improve
their life-long ability to interact
with the community.

BENEFITS PLANNING
Information about services for
recipients of Supplemental Security
Income and/or Social Security
Disability Insurance (SSI/SSDI) that
will enable them to seek and obtain
competitive employment. This
program is currently provided
through a contract with VaAccess.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
(ADA)
In conjunction with the LENOWISCO
Disability Services Board, JCIL
provides information about the
various rights and accommodations
required under the landmark civil
rights legislation enacted in 1992.
The primary focus is the removal of
barriers within the community to
ensure maximum inclusion and
participation by persons with
disabilities.

JCIL OUTREACH
Informational workshops and
participation in community events
and festivals to inform the public
of the value of the services
provided by JCIL to allow every
individual to achieve maximum
independence and to develop
inclusive and liveable communities.
